The Shelf Life Project
The Shelf Life Project is an evolving site-specific installation about books and archived materials for library, museum and university settings. Displayed on minimal white shelves, it is comprised of intimately-scaled panels resembling book-like objects that could be comfortably handled. The panels’ imagery derives from books and artefacts in the collections of the exhibition venues. In this age of digital media, Shelf Life celebrates the physicality of the book and art object, reminding viewers of the historic and artistic value of handmade and printed materials. The project has been exhibited at Simmons College in Boston, MA, at the Groton Public Library in Groton, MA and at The Art Complex Museum in Duxbury, MA.
